Parade of Lights on Friday to close out Fire Safety Week

The Lancaster Fire Department invites the community to gather this Friday, October 10th at 7:00 PM from Bridge Street to Main Street for the annual Parade of Lights, a long standing tradition that brings neighbors together in celebration and reflection during Fire Prevention Week.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme emphasizes the importance of knowing your escape plan in case of an emergency. Families are encouraged to take time to review two ways out of every room, establish a meeting place outside the home, and practice their plan together.

“The Parade of Lights is not only a fun and festive evening,” said Chief Randy Flynn, “but also a reminder that fire safety begins at home. By planning ahead, you can make sure your family is prepared in the event of an emergency.”

The parade will feature fire trucks and emergency vehicles from Lancaster and neighboring towns, all lit up to honor the dedication of first responders and to celebrate community safety. Residents and visitors alike are invited to line the streets, safely enjoy the spectacle, and take this opportunity to talk with their families about fire prevention and safety.

The Lancaster Fire Department is currently seeking individuals to join our team. If you’ve ever considered serving your community in a meaningful way, now is the time to get involved. The firefighters in our community play a vital role in responding to emergencies and protecting our neighbors. Whether you’re new to firefighting or have experience, we welcome anyone interested in making a difference.
