The New Hampshire Geological Survey, a program within the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, will be conducting geological mapping of bedrock in Lancaster over the coming weeks.
This work provides information related to groundwater resources, recreational opportunities, and natural resource management, while also enhancing our understanding of New Hampshire’s natural history.
Residents may see field geologists working throughout the community. In some cases, they may request permission to access private property to observe and document rock formations. Property owners are welcome to accompany survey staff during this work if they wish.
Field activities are expected to begin this week and continue through Memorial Day.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation of this effort.
