Fire Safety:

Smoke Alarms/Smoke Detectors:  Remember to check the battery in your smoke alarm  detector and test the unit occasionally.

Carbon Monoxide Risks at Home: What Is Carbon Monoxide? What is the effect of exposure to CO? What is your risk of CO poisoning? How can you protect yourself from CO poisoning? Safety Tips at http://www.nfpa.org/co-in-home.html

Your Home Fire Safety Checklist/Fire Plan: Make sure all family members know what to do in the event of a fire. Draw a floor plan with at least two ways of escaping every room. Make a drawing for each floor. Dimensions do not need to be correct. Make sure the plan shows important details: stairs, hallways and windows that can be used as fire escape routes. Test windows and doors—do they open easy enough? Are they wide enough? Or tall enough?
Choose a safe meeting place outside the house.
Practice alerting other members.  Plans and tips at:

Explorer Program: The BSA explorer program was established by the Boy Scouts Of America to allow the youth who are interested in a career in EMS or the Fire Department to work under an advisor. Our program was originally an EMS service, which soon spread to allow Explorers to respond on fire calls. Explorers are required to achieve at least a "C" average in school, and have to be at least 14 years of age and graduated the Eighth grade.
